25th Class Reunion Dates & Events

UPDATED DATES FOR 25th Reunion... August 6th, 7th and 8th, 2010.

Planning a reunion is a lot of work. Even more so if you don't have Linda Partsafas-Guches at the helm, steering the ship a year in advance! (Thanks Linda... I know it's a labor of love.)

Meeting at Porter's in Medford yesterday it was fun to see Linda, Paige and Shannan again. We've all kept in touch via email, but time has blown by since we last hung out together while planning the 20th reunion so the first order of business was to play 'catch up' on our lives. About an hour into it, we decided to talk 'dates'. After referring to our handy electronic devices (Ipod Touch... never leave home without it...) we decided that the best dates for next year's reunion would tentatively be July 9th, 10th and 11th. Going with that, we'll be checking some venues and costs, bringing that info to the meeting next month.

Because of the current economic climate that has a lot of folks without jobs or struggling financially, we want to try and provide a fun, but cost conscious reunion for you. The current ideas are as follows:

Friday Night (9th) - a casual meeting place (perhaps in Jacksonville), with a bar and space to wander and chat, with no loud music to try and shout over.

Saturday (10th) - a softball game at the high school, lunch, class photo and more socializing. Have transportation available for those who are going to go over to Grants Pass and take the Hellgate Jetboat Excursion dinner cruise, to bring them safely back to Medford where they can attend another casual 'bar' gathering if they desire.

Sunday (11th) - there's a question mark on this one. Some think 2 days are enough and not planning anything leaves a travel day for some, or a day to get together for brunch or something similar with close friends. OR another picnic at Holmes Park, as was done during the 20th reunion.

As you can see the planning is focused on casual fun this time around. If you have thoughts or input, please let us know via email or on Facebook. I will be a Classmates.com gold member again soon, so I'll be posting there too, but for now this blog, our email and FB are the easiest ways for us to hear what you think and/or for you to get a hold of us.

Have a Happy 4th of July and we'll look forward to sharing more with you about the reunion in the coming months.

Brian Syverson

I am sorry to tell you that tonight I learned of the death of one of our classmates, Brian Syverson. His obituary has a link where you can leave a note for his family in the guest book. I have posted something from our class, but I'm sure his family would appreciate hearing from you.

"Brian, you will be missed!"

Idea for 2010 Reunion: Hellgate Excursions

Hi All... just putting up this link to the Hellgate Jetboat Excursions website: http://www.hellgate.com/index.php in hopes that you'll check it out and give us your feedback on whether or not to try and incorporate it into the planning of the 2010 reunion.

For those who've not done it, it's a real thrill! The food at the OK Corral is served family-style, and if you go on a dinner cruise all the beer and wine you can drink is part of the deal. (Personally, I avoid sitting next to those folks on the boat ride home!)

Facebook continues to be the best resource for meeting up with classmates. Several groups have popped up for those who attended Hedrick (thanks to Jeff Andrews...), Medford Senior High Class of 1985 and various elementary schools. If you can't find a classmate, ask some others or check out their 'friends' list. You'll be surprised by how many you'll find!

Meanwhile Classmates.com is also still a good resource. I'll be getting my 'gold' membership back towards the end of the summer, and I have high hopes the planning committee will 'do lunch' this summer too. Several people have shown interest in helping with the next reunion, for which we are grateful. ANYONE who wants to help do ANYTHING related to the reunion is welcome. The more the merrier may not apply, but certainly it makes lighter work!

Hey, did anyone catch the Newswatch 12 story last night about how downtown Medford now has a booming nightlife? GEEZ I need to get out more! Shenanigans... seems to be a hotspot with a large outdoor patio. Maybe a good place to consider for a Friday night social? Let us know what you think.

Best to all of you... hope all's well in your world.
-Andrea

FACEBOOK a GREAT RESOURCE!

Today I found myself thinking "Do I vacuum or look up classmates on Facebook?" Well, one requires me to get off my hiney and one doesn't, so you know which one I chose.

On FB today I found 14 'missing' classmates and messaged them for their contact information. I will be taking them off the list on this blog as i hear back from them to confirm they either want to know about future reunions or prefer not to be in the mix.

They are...

- David Smith
-David Vincent (now a 'friend' on FB)
-Greg Brown
-John Westerman
-John Cartwright
-Joe Breazeale
-Kellee Rutherford
-Mike Reddell
-Kim Christensen
-Lorraine Detamore
-Seana Davidson (the fastest on the trigger to respond with her info...)
-Steve Fremming
-Trent Roman
-Uresh Patel (asked him about 'Harry')

Can I just say how happy this made me to knock off a few of those 'missing' names?!

Tonya Davis contacted us after seeing her name on the list. I was glad she did, as her married name would have made it tough to find her! Catrena Howlett-Sullivan also emailed us to update her info and joined the FB MSHS Class of 1985 group along with Mike Reddell. Great stuff!

**Remember Ladies... if your name has changed, it's much tougher to find you, so help us out OK?**

FACEBOOK GROUP: Medford Senior High School Class of 1985

If you're not on it yet, you should be... FACEBOOK is tons of fun and growing by leaps and bounds every day. Lots of our classmates are already there, so you should be too!

It's easy. Set up a profile, add photos, as much personal info as you like and then do a search for friends names. You'll undoubtedly come up with more than you bargained for as it's highly addictive when things get rolling.

To join our group: Medford Senior High School Class of 1985
1. Sign up on Facebook.com and fill out your profile.
2. Do a search for the group name and when it comes up, ask to join.
3. Wait for confirmation of acceptance.

Topics in the Forum area of the group relate to high school and our lives right now. The point is to have fun and share information.

'MISSING' Classmates

Updated as information becomes available to us, the list below has the names of classmates who are unaccounted for at this time. Please help us to find them or if your name is on the list, please contact us with your current mailing and email addresses so we can include you in future reunion activities.

25th Reunion

No date has been set for the 25th, but it looks like we'll be planning one. Linda spoke with Paige and when we can get the crew together for drinks and chatter, we'll be on it. I'll update the blog as things develop, but if you need to contact us directly you can email us. (I usually check that email about once a month, but it will be more frequently as things amp up.)

FACEBOOK

Linda and Jane mentioned Facebook to me in the same week so I thought I'd check it out.  I spent this eve setting up a profile and made a network called : Medford Senior High School, Class of 1985.  If I did it correctly, you should be able to type that title in and be a member of that network if you setup a Facebook profile.

Linda is sure this will be used a lot for reunion networking, perhaps more than Classmates, but we'll be using both to get the word out.

Michelle Halfhill

Michelle Halfhill's son, Nathan Holmes, contacted me late last year looking for any photos or stories we might have of his Mom. He's 15 and lost his mother when he was 10. Since I'm not familiar with Michelle's high school days I don't know who to contact about this to help him out.

If you knew Michelle and would like to share info or photos with Nathan, please email me at blacktornado85@yahoo.com and I'll get you in touch with him.

Thanks so much for your help.
